First shown at the 1988 Geneva Motor Show,
the Citroën AX BB Cabrio went on sale in
1991 and was produced in limited numbers for
two years.
The BB Cabrio was an independent project by
the concessionaire Benjamin Barral and was
developed and built by the Portuguese
company AG Engineering.
Right Citroën had produced some
design sketches for an AX GT Cabriolet but
it went no further than a few drawings.
Note the roll over bar in the 'official'
version which was missing from the
Portuguese car. Benjamin Barral claimed that
modifications to the body structure meant it
did not need such a bar.
