The C4 Picasso

Standard-setting interior space

A perfect “visiospace”, the C4 Picasso is exceptionally spacious. Its architecture and dimensions (4.59 m long, 1.83 m wide and 1.66 m high) make for a roomy interior.

Roomy front compartment

The new layout of the driving position and the uncluttered dashboard create a sensation of increased space and comfort.

Innovative driving position

The driving position, associated with the new 6-speed electronic gearbox system or automatic transmission, completely frees up the centre of the dashboard by grouping the gearbox controls on the steering wheel.  This layout completely does away with the central console, which traditionally houses the gearbox controls. The controls are now steering wheel-mounted, with a mode selector and gearshift paddles. Built into the steering column, they adapt to adjustments for height and reach. These upgrades free up space for a large cooled central stowage compartment.

A fixed-centred controls steering wheel

Like the C4, the C4 Picasso is fitted as standard with a fixed-centred controls steering wheel, adjustable for height and reach. The fixed hub brings the main comfort functions and driving aids within easy reach of the driver. This ergonomic feature groups the controls for easy use.

Automatic electric parking brake

The automatic electric parking brake with fascia-mounted controls does away with the mechanical hand brake between the front seats.

Air-conditioning controls at either end of the dashboard

The air conditioning uses new exchangers and is therefore more compact in size. The controls are placed at either end of the dashboard – within direct reach of the occupants – thus freeing up the central console.

Remarkable interior space to carry up to seven passengers in comfort

  • The three rows of seats can comfortably accommodate up to seven passengers.

  • The C4 Picasso offers class-leading elbow room for all three rows of seats (1.51 m at the front, 1.49 m in row 2, 1.16 m in row 3).

  • The space between the front seats is larger than on any other vehicle in this segment, making it easier for occupants in the front and rear to communicate with each other. It also provides greater visibility for the occupant of the second-row middle seat, who can enjoy the view through the panoramic windscreen.

  • The front seats slide over a distance of 21 cm. Like the driver, the front passenger can raise the seat by up to 50 mm.

Raising the seat changes the height from a hatchback-level driving position (height of 32.5 cm) to a high driving position (up to 37.5 cm).

The C4 Picasso also gains one of the key features of the Xsara Picasso: three seats of the same width (45 cm) in row 2. As a result, the central passenger is not squeezed between two passengers settled in wider side seats. The other advantage is that a child seat can be installed in the middle. The three seats in row 2 each feature fore-and-aft adjustment over 13 cm and a comfort position with seatback and cushion adjustment.

  • Another strong feature carried over from the Xsara Picasso is the flat floor pan in row 2. This provides greater comfort and ease of movement for the three passengers, particularly the one in the middle.

  • Leg room in the second row is more generous than in any other vehicle in the category (between 70 cm and 95 cm depending on the position of the front seat).

  • A third row of seats provides space for two more adult passengers. The hollowed out floor increases leg room on this row, for greater overall comfort.
